Repair and restoration

Post-fire suppression repair takes place immediately after fire containment to repair damages caused by firefighting activities and prevent post-fire erosion.

Key Repair Actions

  • Water Bars: Construct earthen berms (water bars) diagonally across firelines on slopes to divert rainwater into stable vegetation, preventing gully erosion.
  • Ripping & Mulching: De-compact bulldozer trails and spread straw or wood mulch over exposed dirt.
  • Reseeding: Plant native grass and seedling species to stabilize soil and prevent invasive weeds from establishing.
